My Story
My interest in engineering was sparked because of my fondness for math and science. From a young age, I've always had interest finding how I could help the world advance using technology. I remember drawing sketches of flying cars, taking apart pens, and writing about recyclable sources for energy. In Algebra and Geometry, I love to see how equations and formulas relate to real life engineering. I was able to experience how math and physics come together and build marvelous structures like the Golden Gate bridge.
While learning Python, it is so exciting to see a glimpse of how phones, computers and other technologies operate. I would be an effective EngineerGirl ambassador because I want to help women and girls in engineering due to what I have seen and experienced. I am also a part of the "Girls in STEM" club at my high school, and have also worked on providing education opportunities for kids with a PVSA certified organization in Massachusetts. I’m always a big part of hosting STEM themed birthday parties for my little sister and her friends. As a girl in engineering I feel like a minority every time I am put in a room with other aspiring engineers. Due to this, I want to be involved in providing opportunities for more young girls in engineering.
My Project
A program for 3rd-5th grade girls in my local community to get them exposed and interested in engineering through immersive and interactive experiments. The program will have an in-person kickoff, monthly virtual workshops, and one time virtual panel-discussion with professional engineers. Experiment kits will also be provided to underprivileged girls.
