My Story
I have been engaged in STEAM since 3rd grade when I attended Orlando Science School and started FLL robotics. Being a part of a team and coming up with solutions to solve real world problems I find rewarding. This program would give me an opportunity to share my experience with others as well as help me to grow in leadership. I am shy and would like to learn strategies on how to overcome this to share my passion and knowledge with others. I am inspired to do engineering because I love problem solving. At a young age I loved building Legos and putting together puzzles. When traveling we would always try to figure out how things worked. I understand how things work and would love to share this excitement with others and excite them in Engineering.
Many people have helped me as a child and this program would give me an opportunity to give back and help others. In Girl Scouts my Silver project was to mark storm drains and protect our community water ways. It was so rewarding to mark the drains and bring awareness to my community. Our future depends on our environment and being an Engineer Ambassador allows me to engage younger students and teach them the importance of Engineering. I hope I can inspire a young person! We need more female role models. My mom is an Engineer and she has been an amazing role model for me. I want to be that for others!
My Project
Girls will design, build, and fly a safe and stable model rocket! They will use simulation software by designing a rocket in RocketSim. They will explore different types of STEM careers like computer science, electrical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering. They will gain hands-on experience solving engineering problems.
