My Story
I am an artist and I love to tinker. I have strong math and science skills. When I was in elementary school, I joined a First Lego League Challenge but I was highly discouraged because the boys on my team did not work well together and it wasn't a positive experience. But then I attended a Girl Scout event hosted by an engineering company and that was inspiring. Listening to all the women of different ages who worked at that company and how they came to be there made me think that anyone can be an engineer if we just tried and persevered. I think many young girls are discouraged like I was, and continuing to seek out science and engineering clubs/teams/events/project etc. can be difficult. But having a role model reaching out can be encouraging and I hope to help other girls who were like me once.

My Project
This proposal is for a series of workshops that focus on the science behind creating different art such as photography, ceramics, motion picture films, optical illusions, and engineering. I selected this project to encourage girls to find their interest in science/engineering.
