My Story
I have always loved engineering, science, and math. I became especially interested in engineering when my grandma became paralyzed and had to use an electric vehicle to move around. I was so amazed that something so simple helped people who needed support, like my grandma, to live a better life. After this experience, I became obsessed with learning as much about STEM as I could and trying to help people. Like many young girls, I wanted to learn about STEM.
I learned some of the basics in school but I never had a place to test my skills and learn more. I also could not join any competitions and engineering fairs since I did not have the level of experience for most of the clubs. Like a lot of girls, I did not know how to delve deeper into engineering without a proper teacher. I hope to open a program for girls with any background so that they can test their skills, learn more about engineering, and talk with like-minded peers. I hope to teach the young girls that it is alright to not know something as long as you are still learning.
My Project
My daily coding sessions will allow young girls to have a safe space, at my high school, to work on their coding and engineering without feeling ashamed for their lack of experience in STEM. By using biomedical real-world problems and finding solutions, the girls will develop a love for engineering.
