Close Up
  • What I Do

My current job is designing components for aircraft wings, propellers, and rotor blades to keep ice from building up during flight. I also design the water systems for planes!

  • Why Engineering?

I've always been fascinated by how things work and the logic behind their design. I figured the best way to understand that logic is to design them myself!

  • School Days

I graduated from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I'm currently working on my Master's Degree in Engineering Data Analytics from the University of Wisconsin.

  • My Day At Work

I do it all! Manage project schedules to make sure parts arrive on time, make drawings, work with manufacturing to determine the best way to build parts efficiently, design the parts themselves, even build and test prototypes.

  • Best Part

Every day is different. On Monday, I may be back in the prototype lab building and testing parts, then on Tuesday, I'm analyzing the test data at my desk. I have the flexibility to get up and use my hands every day.

  • My Family

My husband and I recently bought the house I grew up in so we could raise our family in my hometown! We have 2 dogs (Enzo and Bella) and 2 kids (Adelaide and Theodore). Our kids are still very small, but we take every opportunity to go on family adventures! Swimming in our pool, family hikes, and exploring the nearby cities are some of our favorites.

  • Want to be an Engineer?

Be persistent! Engineering school was very difficult. If this is what you want to do, don't be discouraged by the difficult classes.

  • Hobbies

My current hobbies include: reading, playing video games (especially the Legend of Zelda), skiing, boxing, and cycling. I'm fortunate that my job allows me to have a great work/life balance so I have time for all of these!

Volunteer Opportunities
  • I am willing to be contacted by educators for possible speaking engagements in schools or in after school programs or summer camps.
  • I am willing to serve as science fair judge or other temporary volunteer at a local school.
  • I am willing to be interviewed by interested students via email.
