What I Do I help the engineers design HVAC systems and then turn around and sell them to the contractors.
Why Engineering? I want all youth and young professionals to know how many options are out there that relate to STEM and how fun it really is.
School Days University of Las Vegas - BS in Mechanical Engineering University of Utah - In the process of getting a MBA
My Day At Work I have the opportunity to go to job walks, witness equipment being stalled, sit with engineers and help the design phase, along with working from home and getting all the admin/paperwork side of the job completed.
Best Part I love seeing the final work completed and knowing that I did that! Everyone is comfortable because I created a design that is operational and works. Self Gratitude is the driving factor for me.
Proud Moments Sitting at a design round table for a major project with all high ups and everyone is taking my advice because I was mentored and learned what I needed to be successful. One of the first moments I came home and bragged to my girls (they didn't understand) but they were excited because I was.
Challenges Being a woman in the construction industry is a challenge as you have to overcome the first impressions and I felt like I had to prove myself even more and know more than anyone else so I could prove I was worth being in the same room.
My Family Wonderful Fiancé, that understands my line of work. We have 3 girls between us both but only 2 live at home. We have a rescue puppy that is the worlds best dog.
Dreams and Goals Short-term goals: Finish my MBA, Pay off my car, only debt will be housing. Long-Term goals: Buy my beach house in Florida, Buy an orange Lamborghini, travel Europe
Inspiration My Fiancé, he pushes me to exceed anything and everything I do. He is always there to help in any way shape or form. My parents, they struggled through my whole life, but never gave up. My girls, because they were and are my biggest cheerleaders. UNLV professors, worked with my crazy schedules and always encouraged me to keep going and never give up. My mentors, co-works and bosses, each one of them gave me quotes to live my life by and paved the way to where I am now.
Want to be an Engineer? Have patience, and don't ever give up! You can achieve any and everything you put your mind to with small steps in the right direction.
Hobbies My Fiancé and I Dragon Boat and attend 2-5 races a year on the West Coast with our team. Active ASHRAE member and Vice President for my chapter.
