  • What I Do

I optimize the functions in the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of several vehicles, to improve drivability, emissions and consumption. This means, I test different functions in the car, communicating with it and managing the values in order to get the best results for a smooth driving. It also involves using correction functions that work over the lifetime of the vehicle, to ensure a correct behavior over time.

  • Why Engineering?

I chose engineering because my passion is to understand mechanisms. During my childhood I saw how my father was fascinated by cars, and followed his passion to make it my profession.

  • My Day At Work

My day at work involves analyzing measurements, managing SW and data... I also work with the customer to understand their needs for a specific function or desire for future deliveries etc.

  • Proud Moments

As a woman working in a "man-driven" environment, I am proud of making the different for women. I do not understand or accept the theory that mechanical engineering is not interesing for women. On the contrary, women can also have fun working with cars! This is my message to my colleagues and to the world.

Biography
I studied Mechanical Engineering in Sevilla (Spain), and from the beginning I felt it had been the right choice. I enjoyed the classes, especially the fundamentals during the first 2 years. I decided to specialize in the energetic branch. After finishing the bachelor, I started working in the automotive field. My main focus during these last 6 years has been the catalysts and filters used to reduce the vehicle's emissions. I enjoy my job, it helps me stay creative, stay informed of new developments in the field, and requires interdisciplinary skills to reach the goals of reducing emissions under the customer specifications. Not to mention that I get to travel around! My husband and I are on a 3-year assignment in Michigan, USA, having a great time and getting to know new cultures and work-styles!

I'm in 6th grade and I'm doing a research project on career options that interest me. Engineering is my first choice, so it would be great if you could answer my questions: Where did you go to school to learn the things you know? What childhood/youth experiences influenced you to choose you career choice? Did any adult influence you? What were your goals and did they change over time? Did you successfully complete these goals? I know these are a lot of questions so you can only answer 1 or 2 if ...
