    Hi Evan,

Engineering isn't as scary as some might think. It does require focus and dedication to your studies but it is also cool to solve problems and create new innovative solutions. If you love computer stuff and exploring how things work I would ...

Hello Haya, yes electrical engineers work in space. We provide a number for support functions including helping to develop power systems for space applications, designing digital components that become the brains of a satellite, and we help to create ...

My work schedule varies from day to day.  Some days I spend most of the day in technical meetings, other days I’m able to go out to the factory floor and observe satellite production.

I would say I've been an engineer since grade school, because that's when I started taking apart electronic devices and putting them back together. However I've "officially" been an engineer for 15 years. I wouldn't call myself a superhero but I do get ...

Good grades will definitely help you but you also have to be willing to study and work hard. A 'C' average student can be just as successful in their job as an 'A' student if they take the extra time required to study and work practice problems. Good ...

Terita, I would like to thank you for making yourself available for questions. I recently facilitated a group called Girls Go Green, the girls met after school to manufacture a product that would be made from recycled materials. The final product would be entered into a competition. The girls are African American and in middle school or on their way to high school. I will be meeting with them one last time and would like to know if you have any advice that you could pass on to them. A big ...

    Dear Mrs. Pinn,

Thank you for your support of the youth especially African American females. What I've found is that a number of female students regardless of ethnicity still consider engineering to be field for male or something boring. To change ...

Hi, I'm going to start my 2nd year in Electronic Engineering. I've been getting good grades so far, but being a woman in a male-dominated field, makes me feel a little intimidated. It's like many people already know so much before starting the course and many of the guys have done internships before and during summer - in their very first year! I love what I'm studying and I know that there are many options out there. Yet, recently when a certain experimental project failed to work, I felt ...

Dear SRS, There are times when I still get a little intimidated when I walk into a technical meeting and I'm the only female. I've learned however to be confident in my own technical ability. I've also realized that as a women I am able to bring a ...
