What I Do Design dehumidifying machine for each customers and projects from scratch. Use AutoCAD (rarely Solidworks) to make units' assembly, parts, electrical drawings. We need to have knowledge of air conditioning, mechanical design, electrical design.
Why Engineering? My career started as a sales representative in the Japanese famous electronics manufacturer. In 7 years of working days, I was selling our 'finished' products with feeling gaps between our manufacturing thoughts and customer wants every day. Such experiences made me change my career into engineering area little by little.
My Day At Work Have briefing sessions about projects with Sales rep. Calculate things; heat source, fan power, air pressure loss, electricity so on. Within customers' size allowance, design machine units by cad. Draw assembly, parts, electrical drawings. Handout drawings, specifications, parts list, cautions note to our purchase and manufacturing team.
Best Part Simply 'Fun'. I feel difficulty on every project and sometimes facing machine trouble we have to deal with, but those things never bore me. Also we asked to redesign our product more better: reduce cost, update parts etc all the time, such things are challenging too.
Challenges Our standard unit's renewal project was challenging recently. It was already minimized in size and cost in basis, so it was also quite hard work. I redesigned many parts into common ones with other units as much as possible without changing whole size of unit.
Inspiration I don't remember someone particuler, but from many thing: books, webs, people I learned so far.
