Close Up
  • What I Do

I test, document, and deploy a (Telecom) network that will be used by many people for daily communication needs.

  • Why Engineering?

Besides providing a comfortable life, I like the technical challenge that it brings.

  • School Days

McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA
Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering

  • My Day At Work

Go to the Lab to test and verify the design that I developed. Work with people so the design I developed is deployed properly in the network.

  • Best Part

Working on the latest technology and working with smart people!

  • Proud Moments

Being able to work for the same company since graduating from college and continue to be challenged.

  • Challenges

Being Asian and a woman since people have certain expectations especially in this industry. I'm also an introvert so I had to keep pushing to be heard and recognized. Eventually, I proved that I don't have to be the loudest in the room or have the answers to all the problems to have an impact.

  • My Family

I come from a family of 6:  Dad, Mom, and four girls (me being the youngest). My family immigrated to the US when I was in high school. Parents instilled to us the importance of education and made sure that we all graduated with college degrees. I hope to one day be able to say that my daughter has a college degree.

  • Dreams and Goals

My immediate plans are to successfully deploy a new network and go on fun family adventures. In the future, I'd like to see my daughter happily living the best life ever while I run a small business in the Philippines with my husband.

  • Inspiration

    My parents

  • Want to be an Engineer?

Work hard. Keep learning and keep asking questions.

  • Hobbies

I like to cook (Filipino, American, Mexican, Cajun) and meld the different flavors and techniques. I also like to travel and see different parts of the world and learn different cultures.

Biography
I came to America from the Philippines during my teen years. Although English was taught in the Philippines and Filipino's are strongly influenced by American culture, I still struggled to adjust when I first came. School was hard but adjusting to a different environment was harder. I struggled but I persisted. Now, I am an Engineer for a very successful telecommunications company. More importantly, I have a supportive husband and a daughter; they remind me everyday what is more important than anything in this world!
