Elliot asked Isabelle Cabana, Collins Aerospace AddedSaturday, March 13, 2021 at 4:57 PM Can I become an engineer if electricity and electrical stuff stress me out? I mean obviously probably not an electrical engineer but like the sounds of electric shocks and stuff give me a panic attack and I don???t know will that be too much of a problem in all areas of engineering. However, it depends on what type of engineering job you want to do in the future. Do you like working in a lab and performing tests or figuring out how something broke? There's a good chance you may have to work with equipment and electricity. Do you like architecture or designing on a computer either in 2D or 3D? There's a low to zero chance of you interacting with electrical systems. Do you like getting your hands on parts and want to be the one to build the next rocket that launches into space? There's a possibility of having to work with electrical equipment. I only gave a few examples of different engineering fields you could pursue, and not everything will be crossed off your list but an easy way to figure out if something sounds right for you, just ask. Don't be afraid to ask an engineer what their daily life is like and the worst thing that happens is you find a job you don't like. It's better to find out sooner than spend 4 years studying for a job you find out scares you. Good Luck!
