Ani Clemons AddedThursday, July 5, 2018 at 3:03 PM How to prepare for engineering Everyone around me tells me I shouldn't pursue engineering, or doesn't believe I can really do it. What can I do as a Junior in high school to prepare myself for the engineering path? I am not a mathematical wizard, but I love using my creativity and solving problems. My biggest fear is getting to college and not feeling prepared for my engineering-based classes. I feel like maybe I'm not smart enough and I'm wondering what I can do to pursue my dream. I live in Ave Maria, Florida, and I attend Rhodora J. Donahue Academy as a Junior. I would like to attend the University of Illinois once I graduate. I've heard they are strong in the engineering field. Someday I would like to create and work on America's defense systems. I would love to work with teams to create the most high-tech military equipment. What can I do to prepare for a degree that could most likely get me there? No one in my family has had any experience with engineering so I don't really have anyone to answer my questions. My name is Ani and it would be so so wonderful if someone could help me get where I dream of going.:) Thank you! If you feel like you may not be prepared, I would recommend looking into summer programs or other options where you can get some additional help. You can always reach out to universities to find out what the course work looks like and what they recommend you have completed before starting your courses. Your advisors in high school and college can help provide some resources as well Good luck!
