Priya Singha

Priya’s academic and work experience encompasses biological sciences, education, and engineering. Priya earned her B.E. degree in 2012 from VT University, India. She conducted her senior year project in National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). Her research was on in-situ docking of botulinum neurotoxin. She was able to gain good knowledge on bioinformatics through this project. After her BE degree, she went on to work for Biocon in 2013 before leaving for the States. In Biocon, she was able to gain considerable experience in mammalian cell culture. Priya completed her Master’s degree from University of California-Irvine(UCI) in December 2014. She was able to fund for her study in UCI as a student assistant. She has also taught reading(ESL) and engineering and biology (middle school) for Girls Inc.(CA) and i2 camp(NY). Her varied experience enabled her to get the position of Research Assistant in University of Georgia under the mentorship of Dr. Handa. Currently, she is working on Nitric Oxide releasing antimicrobial polymers under the advisement of Dr. Handa and is planning on pursuing a career in higher education once she graduates in 2019. Priya believes in being a go-getter and so has always welcomed new experiences in her life. Besides being an avid art and photography enthusiast, she likes hiking and camping with her friends.
