School Days I have a BSE in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. While an undergrad, I also minored in global engineering, earned a certificate in Spanish language and culture, and pursued coursework in photography studios.
My Day At Work Every day is different! I've worked on a ton of different teams. Some days I spend most of the day optimizing or cleaning up code, other days I spend a ton of time briefing program status or networking with stakeholders. The only things that's been consistent is that I work very collaboratively and always have someone to bounce ideas off of!
Best Part I love being able to work on programs in the defense space that keep our warfighters safe! My brother, cousin, mother, and grandfather are all currently serving or veterans of the United States Army, which makes the mission hit very close to home.
Proud Moments I once saw a product I worked on mentioned in the news, credited for saving hundreds of lives in a military operation. That will be a hard moment to top!
Want to be an Engineer? Don't get scared of the math! I was naturally good at math until calculus and then really struggled. My undergraduate degree required math that was REALLY hard for me - in fact I had to drop or fail a class. Professionally, I've never had any issues being a high performing engineer. So, even if math (or science or some other specific class) makes you feel like a total failure, if you persevere you will come out stronger and successful!
Hobbies I grew up doing ballet and continue to dance recreationally! I also love tinkering and being a maker, particularly with my Arduino Uno because it's so easy and fun to mess with! You’ll also find me doodling, volunteering at the USO, and photographing nature and urban settings.
