Hi, i'm intersted in studying bioengineering, however it seemed to me that it's harder for them to find jobs as employers prefer mechanical, chemical or electrical engineers. Is that really true?

I'm currently in grade 12 and preparing for college applications. I have always like biology and am thinking of pursuing my career in Bioengineering. However, people tell me that Bioengineering isn't related to human biology at all, so I am a bit hesitant. So I would really like some Bioengineers to tell me what do Bioengineers actually do, and if I am really into human biology, should I choose a major in science instead? Also, I am not really that good at math, will it be a huge problem for ...

    Hi Laila,
That's a great question! I actually never realized that I would be good at engineering when I was young and in high school. I just knew the subjects that I really enjoyed (biology, chemistry, and math). However, I was not really great at math. ...

I’m currently enrolled as a freshman in civil engineering. However, I dreamed on working in the medical field. I thought maybe, if I could, I would like to study both engineering and medicine. But, I’d like to gain experience first in civil engineering. Perhaps in the future, I might also pursue biomedical engineering. Would it be possible for a civil engineering to also work as a biomedical engineer? Or other traditional engineering fields would be a better field to study in connection with ...

    Hi Nikki,

    This is a great question!
First off, I trained as a biotechnologist in my undergraduate school so I had to switch to biomedical engineering for my Ph.D. degree. But they were both pretty related since both had a background in biology and ...

I'm still searching the best course for me to choose during my degree level. I'm interested in biomedical engineering but somehow I am not sure what they do in real life. I already googled it. However, I hope you can help me to explain more about your job's prospect in this field and also the challenges. Thank you.

I can completely understand your confusion about the job prospects and challenges in the field of biomedical engineering. Having narrowed down my own specialty from biological engineering to biomedical, I have been in your position too ...
