What I Do I manage a large team of engineering analysts doing very technical work in the Aerospace industry. My team helps design, fix, and innovate electric power system equipment for all types of aircraft. Specifically, my team is looking at and testing strength and capability of our equipment under all sorts of load conditions. Another portion of my group analyzes the heating and cooling of the same products. My job is to support this team in becoming the best at what they do.
Why Engineering? I loved science all through middle and high school. I was good at math but it wasn't my favorite. However, I was really inspired by my Dad. He was a born problem solver and Mr. Fix-It. Growing up, I watched him innovate and fix everything around the house without buying expensive gadgets. He would use commonplace materials, scraps even, to fix everything. I wasn't a natural at it like he was but I wanted to learn.
School Days I studied at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management.
Best Part I'm never bored. There's always more to learn and new problems to solve. I love the technical challenges and the thrill of solving tough problems. Being a good engineer means I'm making a difference.
My Family I married an engineer and together we have two daughters in elementary school. Both of my girls dance competitively so between two engineering careers, school, and dance, there is never a dull moment. We don't spend a lot of time in our house.
