  • What I Do

    I am the Director of Meteorology and Adjunct Assistant Professor at UCLA in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. I work with both scientists and Engineers in Academia and at NASA JPL to solve questions pertaining to extreme weather events and natural disasters, such as wildfires, extreme snowstorms, and earthquakes.

Biography
My passions lie in uncovering the complexities of the Earth System dynamics by taking an interdisciplinary approach at exploring the fields of Meteorology, Climatology, Atmospheric Sciences, Physical Geography, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Sciences, while simultaneously integrating my love for the Arts and media. My commitment to continued research in the Earth System Sciences is evident from my national and international graduate study experiences (Master of Science and PhD Degrees at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada; my Postdoctoral Research and Lecturer positions at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and subsequently, at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; international research experiences as a NASA Academy Alumna; Television Meteorologist for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) News, and Crew Scientist at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, Utah. I hope to inspire our future generations to continue pursuing their academic endeavors.
