What is it like to be a Bioengineer?

I'm currently in grade 12 and preparing for college applications. I have always like biology and am thinking of pursuing my career in Bioengineering. However, people tell me that Bioengineering isn't related to human biology at all, so I am a bit hesitant. So I would really like some Bioengineers to tell me what do Bioengineers actually do, and if I am really into human biology, should I choose a major in science instead? Also, I am not really that good at math, will it be a huge problem for when I go into college? Will I need to apply math with all the works I do and do research or will I need to work with people more?
