  • What I Do

I am a software engineer working at Verizon on systems for Network Planning and Engineering.

  • Why Engineering?

I love to learn, am curious about how things work, and love to build things.

  • School Days

I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Penn State University.

  • My Day At Work

So many things. Any thing from writing code, testing in a lab, analyzing data, architecting solutions, working with other engineers on processes. Learning and figuring things out is a big part of my daily activities.

  • Best Part

Seeing the results of something you and your team built.

  • My Family

I was the oldest of three. I had an original Girl Dad and a very active Mom who taught me by example to have no limits. I got to do everything growing up to helping mom with my brother and sister, to going to the construction site and helping my dad.

  • Inspiration

My family had the greatest influence in my life. I would spend hours solving puzzles with Grandpop, or doing projects with my dad. My parents saw how much I liked to learn and encouraged it. They always had faith I could do anything I wanted and that has stuck with me.

  • Want to be an Engineer?

Know that there are so many aspects to engineering. If you like to work in groups or more on your own, or if you like to be very technical or business focused, or if you want to work from home or would rather travel, there is something for everyone. I have worked in groups of all men, and in groups of all women, and with people from all over the world.

Never let anyone let you think you are not good enough. I have been told I was an awesome engineer, and I have been told I could never be an engineer as a girl. Just do you.

Always learn from both successes and failures because both will happen to everyone.

  • Hobbies

I love movies, TV, video games, crafting, playing with dogs, going to the beach, skiing, and hiking.

Volunteer Opportunities
  • I am willing to serve as science fair judge or other temporary volunteer at a local school.
  • I am willing to be interviewed by interested students via email.
