Why Engineering? I developed a love for math and science at a very early age. I also enjoyed working outside and with my hands.
School Days I attended Florida A&M University for my Bachelor's of Civil Engineering Technology and Georgetown University for my Master's of Real Estate.
My Day At Work I spend a lot of time working with vendors and local governments to identify the most ideal locations to install cellular antennas. I also process the approvals and financing of these projects.
Proud Moments Some of my proudest moments were the completion of my first house as a construction supervisor for a homebuilding company and finishing my Masters degree last year.
Challenges Being a woman Engineer can be a constant challenge when you are the only one on the team. I have had to always be mindful that I am just as capable as anyone else and develop a strong sense of self.
My Family I am married to a wonderful husband that works in the airline industry and mom to a daughter that is a college freshman (computer science major) and pageant competitor and a fourth grade son that loves flag footbal and his xbox.
Dreams and Goals My short term goals include gaining more industry knowledge since this is only my second year in the telecommunications field and hope to leave corporate america within the next ten years to teach on the college level.
Inspiration My mother absolutely has had the greatest influence on my life choices. She always insisted that I pursue my education to the highest level and strive to be the best version of myself.
Want to be an Engineer? I encourage any young woman that wants to be an engineer to do it. Always pursue greatness and not allow anyone to make you feel small. Engineering can be many things, find the thing that speaks to you and go be great!
