  • What I Do

I serve as a technical test team lead responsible for leading a team of engineers in qualifying software/hardware features for various hardware products.

  • Why Engineering?

I choose engineering for many reasons, but mostly because I was excelled in math and science and engineering allowed me to continue to explore the two subject areas that I really enjoyed.  Engineering would give me a higher level of understanding that would broaden my experiences and create opportunities in many different areas because of the educational training it provides.

  • School Days

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with concentrations in Computers from Tennessee State University and a Master of Education, Secondary Education from the University of Arizona South.

  • Best Part

Being an engineer opens up doors in many different areas, I get to speak at conferences, travel to different locations, network with different people all walks of life.  When you are an engineer, you not confined to one specific area and because of the skill set, you get to explore many things.

  • Proud Moments

I would have to say my greatest challenge is not seeing enough women in the field of engineering and feeling like I had to prove that I belong.  Engineering is still a male dominant field, so you must learn to be okay with being the only female in the room sometimes.

  • Want to be an Engineer?

Never give up, no matter what!  If engineering is something you want to do, go after it.  Never let anyone decide for you and do your research to make an informed decision if engineering is right for you.  Remember, you can go into just about any field or discipline after getting an engineering degree.

  • Hobbies

Outside of work, I like to ride bikes, go to the movies and travel when possible.  I love to volunteer for different STEM events where I get to introduce young girls to engineering concepts and activities.

Biography
I want to be that individual that so many others have been to me; someone who motivates, encourages and promotes success in learning and education, in both their personal and professional lives. I believe sharing your experiences is important with mentoring and coaching others, as it helps to increase their understanding of the world around them and provides them insight into areas that they might not otherwise have.
