What I Do I've just been hired as a graduate mechanical engineer in Maintenance into a mining industry in Madagascar. I have to lead a team to maintain all machines and equipments that we use! I'm also on charge of innovating projects to save money for the plant.
Why Engineering? I chose Engineering because I like both STEM fields since my childhood and challenges too! You know the meaning way of creating or maintaining a mechanism that can directly or indirectly help people in their daily life
School Days I went to ETS Saint Michel Amparibe (technical university) for 5 years and I got Master diploma as mechanical engineer in my country. I was one of the two girls among forty boys, that was a very exciting adventure for us, but I've understood that you need to be hard worker and curious if you really want to succeed.
My Day At Work I check all tasks linked to maintenance: Are the workers safe? Is the task safe? Is the task well done? I'm very tight about this. I have to check all equipments too, the main goal is to make the palnt operating time at the maximum value
Best Part I have to face new challenge every day. I learn new things and have the opportunity to improve myself through this gorgeous field. I dare step by step to take more initiatives, to communicate with other teams.
Proud Moments I'm brand new employee now, but I expect to live many proud moments later! The first task that I've been on charge is the plant housekeeping after a big shut, I had to manage a team, be mostly of my time on the field. My manager was always unsatisfied but at the end, the work was 95% successful. It was a really an exciting experience for me
Challenges The first challenge I must take is to lead a team full of men, and it seems I'm the youngest. It was pretty hard at the beginning but with the time I learned to appreciate them then easily communicate with them. There are also many challenging projects on my charge, I have to be well organized everyday.
My Family I'm the only one who pursued a STEM field in my family. My parents are divorced and I had to make many efforts to success due to that.
Dreams and Goals The main short-term goal is to be well integrated in my team, like to be able to work and communicate with them even if I'm the only girl in my department. The long-term goal is to be a complete engineer (mechatronical ). I would get formation abroad and have more experience too.
Inspiration I think my familial situations influenced my choices in my life. I'm christian too and believing in God help me to make the good ones
Want to be an Engineer? You just have to love this field and make any needed effort to go forward your goal. To be scared of failure is normal but to face it and success is better for you. Just go ahead and have courage! Dream big and work hard to make it true!
