Close Up
  • What I Do

Advise research and development project managers on paths of technology commercialization and intellectual property protection.  Technologies that we work on are transformational emerging technologies that would be commercially available within 5-10 years.

  • Why Engineering?

I enjoyed math, physics, and chemistry in high school and found that engineering could allow me to apply those subjects to solve problems.

  • School Days

Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University
Masters in Chemical Engineering from University of Houston

  • Best Part

Being able to understand how things work quickly and look at the world in subjective manner.

  • Proud Moments
    • Seeing that the technologies that I helped develop scaled up to first commercial application and deployed are still being used and saving the companies millions of dollars.
    • Pitching a technology that I brought into Chevron to the CEO
    • Presented a technical paper in front of 100+ audience at an engineering conference.
  • Challenges

The most challenging things are people who you will have to constantly prove yourselves to. In every new position, I need to gain trust and reestablish myself. I found that Emotional Quotient is more important than IQ.

  • My Family

I came from a family with academia backgrounds with both parents being Math professors at universities.  I grew up meeting my dad's engineering friends and admired them greatly. I'm married to a geologist and have a wonderful son who is a STEAM kid who is a visual and performing artist and in G&T program.

  • Dreams and Goals

Just to be happy in what I do and feel that I still can contribute to the societies and to the world.

  • Inspiration

My father who had accomplished so much in his career and was always with visions to create better education choices for his students.

  • Want to be an Engineer?

Be curious, be resilience, be respectful, listen well, and keep learning

  • Hobbies

My favorite books are "Who Moves my Cheese", "Mastery of Love", "History of the World in 6 Glasses" and "Candide".
My hobbies: scuba diving, golf, and traveling.

Biography
I was born in Thailand and came to the US when I was 13 and went to high school in Dallas. I obtained Chemical Engineering degrees at Texas A&M University and University of Houston. My first design engineering job took me to Shanghai, China which led me to change my career that took me around the world to work with many wonderful people. This last move to Chevron allowed me to settle down, have a family and be involved in emerging technologies including carbon capture and new energies. Engineering has allowed me to see the world, to work with many amazingly intelligent people and to make many friends along the way. I never once regretted the career choice that I made.
