What I Do As the Co-founder of Orthosie, I spearhead business development, design, and implementation of digital media products, including responsive websites, REST APIs, and mobile applications. I also conceive, build, and operate E-commerce stores.
Why Engineering? I did not know until high school what I wanted to be. I did not realize that I am capable of more academically until 11th grade. I was always good at math; logic made sense. Engineering was the next logical step.
School Days I completed my Bachelor of engineering at Government college of technology, Coimbatore, India. I also took up a software engineering course. My schooling was in Sirumugai, a small town in Tamilnadu, India.
Best Part I appreciate the independence and flexibility this field has given me. Career options are endless, and I can figure out what I want to do based on where I am in life.
Proud Moments In the first fourteen years of my career, I was part of something big, wore multiple hats, and worked in various industries, including finance, insurance, and healthcare. Going from that to creating something brand new from scratch was a great personal experience. “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way”. - Napolean Hill Orthosie grew from a speck of an idea to several businesses with multiple revenue streams, each solution thought through and executed to fulfill a specific need, in many cases, for a particular consumer segment.
Dreams and Goals I would like to make a greater impact on Education and provide flexible career options for parents.
Inspiration It sounds cliche; my spouse thinks big for me. It’s great to have someone close, a friend or family member who wants more for you. My mother is a strong woman who refuses to fall. Though she did not have any formal education, she strived to educate us and succeeded in her goals. Every time I am down, I remember that, if my mom could come up against all odds, I could too.
Want to be an Engineer? Take a simple test for yourself. Think of a 2 hour project (a recipe for dish, new game, a craft anything where you will have a new product in the end). Set aside the 2 hours, work with your ingredients/materials and see if you can focus and complete. I don’t mean to over simplify this, but that is all it takes to be an engineer. Willingness, plan, focus and perseverance. And the best part is there or so many branches, so you could pick any field and strive to be the best.
Hobbies I love to read, mainly autobiographies and fiction. There is something magical about listening to someone tell their stories. I coached a lego league team for couple of years, and I am part of non-profit educational boards. Though I have cooked most of my adult life, I have never been a fan of cooking. Now, the art of creating something new culinarily appeals to me, so the resulting product gets better each time. Guess that’s passion and process for you.
