What jobs can one do get the transition into the field while working on an industrial engineering degree that may take 3-4 years? I have been in education for the last 8 years. I am considering completing a master industrial engineer program. I have a B.S. in Business Finance and an M.Ed. in Education Administration. In that role I trained sales representatives on the technical specifications of printer products. I think having an education background and business finance background would be beneficial because communicating technical information both to engineers and to the sales and marketing side of the organization can be challenging. In order to work effectively, a person needs to be able to speak the language of the person they are speaking with. If you have an engineering background, you can speak more effectively to engineers. If you have a business background, you can speak more effectively to the people on the business side. And having an education background seems like icing on the cake to be able to communicate effectively. I think a job as a technical trainer or writer in the field you are interested in would make a nice transition.
