Being a minority in the field

Hello is it hard being a minority in your career?

It was not hard for me to be the only woman in many meetings.  Men respect knowledge, so as long as I did my best to know my stuff, it always went well for me.  The only times I was uncomfortable was when it was obvious I had more to learn.  In those cases, I was treated no differently than if I were a man.

Regarding male/female issues, of course there are scumbags out there.  However, of the times I encountered that, it was never one of my engineering colleagues who made a rude comment.  100% of the time the person was from a different department.  Engineers treat women with respect.
