Andriana Jhingory asked Leteshia Lowe AddedMonday, October 19, 2020 at 4:50 PM Do Computer Engineers work with a lot of hardware? I'm sophomore in high school and I been trying to plan for college for a while and harvest my interest in Computer Science. I really want to become a Computer Engineer because I love the mixture between CS and electrical engineering but my only hesitation is how much hardware will I get to experience. I'm a hands-on learner and love build robots and working with hardware and I want from future career to have that. As you mentioned, Computer Engineering is a great bridge between computer science and electrical engineering with the mixture of hardware. The focus for computer engineering can be more hardware based and you would get lots of experience and opportunities to work with hardware depending on your more detailed discipline. This diverse discipline gives you the chance to program hardware on a lower level instead of an application level like computer science. Computer engineering with a focus on robotics will allow you to get programming skills, low level hardware skills, and hands on mechanical skills; including electrical skills as well. No hesitation please, remember, engineering is a field that allows you to easily cross over to many different career areas and the possibilities are endless.
