I think this question has a two part answer: First, absolutely Aerospace Engineering is great for girls. I have never been in a situation where I had different chances than any of the boys in my course, and I don't think the other girls have either. In my course, approximately a quarter of us were female. In a working environment I have found fewer women engineers, however that's not a bad thing necessarily and I truly believe this is changing. Second, unfortunately a degree in Aerospace Engineering doesn't qualify you to be a pilot. For this you have to obtain a pilot's licence. However, understanding the physics that make aircraft fly will definitely help in piloting a plane. We had two aerobatic flights during my masters degree and understanding what is keeping the plane in the sky, what makes it turn, which forces are acting on it really came to light when I was experiencing it at the controls. I'm sure that if you pursue a pilot's career, in obtaining the license you will learn many of the topics that are covered in Aerospace Engineering because essentially they go hand in hand. I hope this helps. If you have more questions, feel free to ask :)
