Good at math, bad at engineering?

Hi I have been in school for 3.5 years and did not decide on civil engineering until just a year ago. I decided engineering because I needed to decide and had already passed calc 1-4 and physics 1 and 2 which I've been told are the hardest classes. For me they have been the easiest. My first semester in the major I got behind and ended up dropping all of my courses. I retook 3 of the classes got an A in chem, a C in statics, and I failed my autocad course. I've always got good grades and I can't believe I failed a class twice just because of my own laziness, I was always turning in assignments late. This isn't the first class I've failed and I'm scared to fail again. I feel like a lost cause because it's already taken me so long to get this far. I don't know if I can stay motivated to finish and do well in my classes. I suck at time management and feel like I never have enough time to study to do well. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hello Megan,

Abraham Lincoln once said that “You can have anything you want if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.”

I think with determination and self-discipline you can achieve your aim. You can follow the tips below.

    1. Do all of your assignments.
    2. Ensure you do not to miss lectures.
    3. Find a friend to be your study partner.
    4. Establish a good relationship with the lecturer.
    5. Examine and understand every mistake.
    6. Get help with your studies from your lecturers fast when the need be.
    7. Ask questions during lectures if you do not understand anything.
    8. Basic skills are essential. Try and master the basic skills in engineering
