Micah Scott AddedWednesday, January 17, 2018 at 8:25 AM How do you find an ethical use for engineering, when humans are mostly building unsustainable systems of oppression and resource extraction? I’ve had a career in computer and electrical engineering, but it’s hard to see the upside in this stuff any more. Technologies can help people sure, but only within the massively inequitable system that powers our tech. How would an engineer use their skills to contribute positively to the world? It doesn't have to be unsustainable. Living without tech is also becoming unsustainable with the growing populace, you need technology to optimize supply chain for food, energy, clean water. Democratization of information is also another demonstration of ethical use of technology.
