claudia, Los Angeles, CA AddedThursday, March 29, 2012 at 7:45 AM Is There Sexism in the Workplace? I've read that if you major in CE and minor in architecture, you will get paid more. How good does this look when you try to apply for a job after you graduate? Also I've heard an issue with woman engineers is sexism, have any of you ever been treated unfairly at work just because you are a female? As for the sexism When I first got out of school, I felt like I was treated differently than my male counterpart by a much older man. However, that seemed to be an isolated incident, and has never occurred since. The culture of Civil Engineering has changed so much in the past 15 years and it is entirely unacceptable to treat women any differently than their male colleagues. The male engineers that I know would not tolerate such behavior towards a professional woman.
