LostGirl, Malaysia AddedWednesday, June 22, 2016 at 12:20 PM Please help me find my passion back Hello, I jsut finished my second year degree in electronics engineering. The sad thing is, I am confused wether I am really into this. I used to like doing electronics but now I am losing my passion. This happened after my first year. I failed my exams drastically during 2nd year first semester, and struggled in 2nd semester. I was sent for counselling and it turns out my personality is more to social, which my counselor said I have the tendency to work with people and like to give benefits to other people. from my understanding, being an engineer, they don't really meet people and i can't see what i'm doing that will benefit people first hand. I feel hopeless and i can't drop out now. Please help me find my passion back. :( Related to Self Doubt Reset Sort By Default Ashley Van De Poel , HundredX Answered Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 12:20 PM Hey there, this sounds like a tough situation. When you say you can't drop out, does that mean you also can not switch your major? If you can't switch your major, is minoring in something a bit more social an option, that way you can have some backup? You could also think about getting your teaching credential after college and go that route. If none of these sound like an option, I'd suggest just hang in there and do your best. I also had a couple really bad semesters in college, so I know how discouraging it can be. But you'll get through it and in five years you'll look back on this time with a smile. If you like engineering and working with people, you can always aim for a managerial position. That way you get the best of both worlds. And there are always opportunities to work with and help people. Take EngineerGirl for an example... you can be a mentor for other like-minded women. And this is just one example, there are so many teaching and mentoring opportunities out there. You are also not tied down to being an engineer just because your degree is in engineering. I think your degree will open up a ton of doors for you in all kinds of different areas. Hang in there and it will all work out...your future is limitless and you will find something that you love!
