Engineers!
I am currently a Senior Technical Service Engineer with the Polymers Americas Group of TOTAL Petrochemicals and Refining USA, Inc (TPRI). I provide technical expertise and lead troubleshooting efforts for customers using TPRI’s polymer products in film and fiber applications. I graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2005 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a minor in French. I began my career at Eastman Chemical Company in Longview, TX, where I led numerous cost improvement and process optimization projects as a process improvement engineer. In 2008, I was promoted to a technical staff engineer and was responsible for capital projects to improve plant safely/reliability and increase capacity. I also helped develop training courses for recently hired chemists and engineers. In August 2008, I joined TPRI as a Senior Process Engineer at TPRI’s Bayport High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Houston, Texas. In that role, I supported the day-to-day operation of the HDPE plant, monitoring product quality, troubleshooting equipment and process problems, and coordinating raw materials supply from multiple vendors. In 2010, I moved out of manufacturing and into TPRI’s Polymer Technical Service Group supporting polymer applications from injection molding to blown film to fiber spinning. The customers I work with range from family owned business to global, Fortune 500 companies, and I have worked with many everyday plastic products such as food storage containers, infant and child car seats, condiment bottles and caps, food and medical packaging, carpet, and hay bale wrap. I enjoy participating in a variety of community service activities. I have been an active leader in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since joining SWE in 2001. I enjoy being a mentor with several programs that pair undergraduate female engineering students with industry members. For the past seven years, I have been a volunteer/event coordinator with the Caring Aggies Mentoring Program, Houston A&M Club’s long-term outreach program, and I also enjoy volunteering with Houston Dress for Success, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, and DePelchin Children’s Center. I play the violin with the Kingwood Pops Orchestra and enjoy traveling, taking dance lessons, painting with watercolors, and reading. My husband Gavan and I live in Houston, TX, and life is a constant adventure with our two boys, ages four and one.
