Would it be hard to survive petroleum engineering?
Hi, my name is Aira. I would like to ask for your advice. I want to be an engineer in petroleum engineering. The problem is I am a girl and this field is dominated by men. Is it hard for me to survive in this career? Can you give me some support so that I know this is the right path for me. Is it hard for girls to be in this career and why? I also want to know what are the qualifications for me to be in this field?

    Aira,

Petroleum engineering is a great field. Yes, it is dominated by men but women are slowly entering the field. I have been working in this field for 7 years now and have met many great women engineers.
My advice to you would be to look up all major oil company websites(Chevron, BP, Exxon Mobil etc.) they have a section dedicated to graduate recruitment, that will give you an idea about the qualifications required. Good luck!
