What I Do I am currently an Assistant Professor in Geotechnical Engineering at San Diego State University.
Why Engineering? I always enjoyed building and crafting things with my hands out of the different types of materials, such as clay, sand, timber, etc.
School Days I completed my Ph.D. program in Geotechnical Engineering at Kansas State University in 2016. I graduated with a Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from University of Zagreb, Croatia in 2011, and 2009, respectively.
My Day At Work My day consists of a little bit of administrative work, a little bit of teaching / grading / preparing lecture notes, and a looooot of cool research.
Best Part I like creating new things that are helping the environment and society and making the world a better place.
Proud Moments My happiest and the proudest moments are when you hear from students at the end of the semester that they have really enjoyed your class and that you made a difference in their life.
Challenges I like to watch the world with my pink sunglasses on! For me, there are no challenges, just opportunities and maybe some smaller changes to the original plans. When one door closes, the other one will open.
My Family Both, my mom and my sister are mathematicians. Thus, I grew up surrounded by crazy mathematician ladies :)
Dreams and Goals I like to dream big! My short-term goal is to become an associate professor, and my long-term goal is to make a world cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable place!
Inspiration This might sound like a cliche, but definitely, my biggest inspiration is my mom. She is a very strong woman with a constantly positive outlook on the world around her no matter what is happening.
Want to be an Engineer? Go for it!! Female engineers rock! Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do it.
Hobbies I love beach volleyball! It is a perfect combination of being surrounded by your friends, being active, and on the beach - all at the same time!
