  • What I Do

    I am currently Senior Manager for the Network CyberSecurity Center Incident Response Team for Verizon Global Management Network Network Security.

  • School Days

    I want to Arizona State for undergrad as a business major with an emphasis on Finance.  I quickly learned that Finance was not for me and switched to Computers.  I have Microsoft System Certified Engineer, and various certifications from the disciplines that I maintain: Certified Cisco Network, Checkpoint, Juniper.  I have taken courses for my graduate student Cybersecurity and management.

    Being a working mom.  At one time I was a single mother of two girls at that time 9 and 12.  Today they are both successful educated women.  

  • My Family

    I am remarried, we are blended family with four kids, 3 girls 1 boy. My husband and I both work in Cybersecurity it is actually how we met.  We have been in the computer engineering fields in some capacity for over 20 years. The girls 25, 22, 19 and the boy is 14. My girls are the older two and today they are both successful educated women. One graduated from University of Southern California with honors in Special Events and Planning. The other daughter is pursing a criminal justice degree graduating in May 2021. My step daughter is pursuing a degree in Psychology and is in her second year of college. My step son will be going into high school next year.

    Anything is possible. I didn't believe when i was younger I would ever be an engineer sometimes you surprise yourself.

  • Hobbies

    I love to bake and cook and entertain.  In my retirement, I want a house on the lake with lots of property so I can foster dogs.  Currently I have two but would love more.

Biography
Cheryl joined Verizon in Jan 2019 as the Sr. Manager for the Network Security Incident Response Team (NSIRT) for the wireless business channel. Currently Cheryl holds the position of Sr. Manager for the Network CyberSecurity Center (NCC) Incident Response Team for Verizon Global Management Network (VGMN) Network Security, which includes numerous networks such as the IDN, EDN, VMN, VOL, VIS, Video, Verizon Wireless (VZW) customer networks and internal employee network. Diverse experience in network defense through monitoring of all security related events utilizing monitoring and response tools. End-to-end management of Incident Response for any active and/or critical security incidents or events on the VGMN networks through all phases of the Incident Handling Process. I am also a Volunteer Champion, I work with teams from across the business to lead volunteer projects aligned to the three focus areas: climate protection, digital inclusion and human prosperity. We invite employees to join your Volunteer Community on the Volunteer Platform and help identify local community needs, partner with local charitable organizations to create high-impact projects and mobilize teams of employee volunteers. We meet with champions from around the world to collaborate. We also create volunteer events that are aligned with the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) pillars and provide oversight that all volunteer partners meet Verizon’s volunteer needs. We also Partner with other Verizon Groups (e.g. Green Team, ERGs, etc.) to cross promote events through their communication channels. In my "spare time" I love to bake and cook, my specialty is giant cupcakes of any flavor. I frequently bring in testers for the team
