What I Do I am a digital operations analyst for Collins Aerospace. I help our international sites design, develop and implement digital tools, dashboards and analytics that support Smart Factory and Industry 4.0.
Why Engineering? I initially choose engineering because I was good at math and science; however, I stayed in engineering because it made me look and think about the world in a different way and because it challenged me in the most interesting ways.
School Days I got my undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University where majored in Industrial and Systems Engineering. I then went onto University of South Carolina to get my Masters in International Business.
Best Part The best part about being an engineer is having the education and background to think critically about different situations in life and at work. Not all jobs will give you this opportunity to think critically however as an engineer you do. For me, and most engineers I have learned and worked with, this is what keeps the day to day interesting.
My Family My husband and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have been here for about two years and love exploring the city and near by mountains with our puppy, Millie.
Inspiration Learning is my inspiration! I love to challenge myself to get better each day and I love to help inspire others to learn about themselves and the interesting world around us.
Want to be an Engineer? I believe that there are many positive opportunities that becoming a woman engineering will bring into one's life: It gives you a solid background and education to get involved in almost any career. It gives you critical thinking skills to solve real world problems. By being a female in a predominantly male career path, it shows you diversity, while also making you stand out, in a good way from your peers.
