Most engineering products are made out of materials and thus as companies develop new high tech products, they need materials engineers to help. Materials engineers work in fields ranging from aerospace products to medical devices, chip manufacturing to bridge building, and more recently have a focus on sustainable materials. I often feel very excited while doing my job because I know that I am helping make materials that lead to more efficient use of energy, and I am helping to teach students who will go work in industry and have even more impact on the world.
