Sarah AddedFriday, October 20, 2017 at 5:12 PM How to transition as a Mechanical to an Aerospace Engineer? I want to know if get a BS in Mechanical Engineer is enough to get in to Aerospace. Only low-cost tuition colleges that explored only offered Mechanical. I've done research on the websites about majors and duel majors in engineering, but I mostly got confused how the process worked. I manage a team of 11 engineers. They are a combination of Mechanical, Electrical, Plastic, and Aerospace Engineers. We all work the same problems, trying to get an airplane built better. In school for ME you still take all the core classes as an Aero. The only major difference is aerodynamics class. Which, might even be offered as an elective! I think you also need to know what you want to do in aerospace for a job. As a mechanical engineer, I have worked on all type of designs on an airplane. I dont do specific aerodynamics stuff, but an airplane is just a machines that fly, and it takes all types of engineers to make a flying machine. Same is true for rockets and satellites!
