I would say it depends on what area of biomedical engineering you want to go in to. If you want to work on projects with a heavier chemistry background, then Chemical Engineering would be helpful and probably necessary. If you were interested in more of the building/inventing devices then I would recommend an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. I've also seen undergrad degrees in Biological Systems Engineering and Materials Science. So there's many pathways. There's no one correct way to go. Just make sure that you enjoy the area of your undergrad degree because if you don't enjoy it you will have a long 4 years in front of you! Not all examples in your classes will be biomedical in nature of course so you also have to like the pure chemistry work because that is a large portion of the degree. Best of luck!!
