Taylor, Port Angles, Washington asked LaToya Eggleston, Software Engineering Directorate AddedThursday, February 25, 2016 at 6:15 PM A lot of men say that engineering is a guy thing and I strongly disagree My name is Taylor. I am in the 5th grade and thinking about becoming an engineer. A lot of men say that engineering is a guy thing and I strongly disagree. Do you have any advice? What college did you go to? I want to go to Texas A&M. How old where you when you decided to become an engineer? There are a lot of wonderful female engineers out there, you just have to look at this site to see lots of them. There are a higher number of men in engineering but there is absolutely no reason why girls/women can't be engineers. I am one and really enjoy it so if you think you would like to do it too, do some research into the type of engineering you would most like to do and if you still think you would like to be an engineer - go for it! I went to college in Ireland so hopefully someone else may give you information more relevant for you on that question. I was about 16 when I decided to become an engineer but I have always been interested in Maths, creating and figuring out how things work. Best of luck in your career choice!
