Working in human rights as an engineer

Hi, I saw Patricia Galloway's TedxTalk and I was very inspired. I never really thought about a career in this field. I have dyscalculia and dyslexia so I also never thought this would be even an option. I have always wanted to become a human rights activist. I was wondering if there are engineering career-options in this field? Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Arianne,

While I'm not sure if there are lots of positions in human rights, I know that the UN hires engineers as peacekeepers.  You can look on the UN Careers Page for more information.  Search for "Management and Operations Support" under Job Network and "Logistics" under Job Family.   If you are interested in working for the UN the best engineering disciplines are electrical or mechanical, geotechnical, environmental, water and sanitation, civil, or a related discipline.  Good luck!
