How can I survive the engineering course?

I am a freshman student of electrical and electronic engineering. My classes have started just a month ago and already I am feeling terribly frustrated. Recently I have messed up badly in a test. Many of my classmates solved the problem correctly in time. I tried the problem at home and after vigorous efforts I solved it. But I won't get my marks back. I have no other option than going on with this. I have always been a bright student and now I am afraid that I'll be a dropout. Please tell me what to do. I am desperately in need of help.

It will be okay! I know it may not feel like that right now, especially if you are used to doing really well. College classes are much more challenging than high school, especially within Engineering. You will still have additional tests in your course to pull up your grade. Some things to keep in mind when you do get your grades back: What was the average? Did the professor grade on a curve? What will your overall grade be based on. You still have opportunities with future tests, homework, potentially projects, etc.

If you think you are struggling, it's time to build and use your network. Have you gone to your professor or TA's office hours? Have you made any friends in your class that you might be able to form a study group with? I personally found this to be a HUGE help when I was studying, I couldn't have done the more difficult courses without my study buddies.

For a point of reference, it wasn't uncommon at my University to get grades like 54%, 35%, and 70% on exams and walk away with a B as a final grade. It was all dependent on that curve.
