Haley Grubbs asked Kim Wheeler, Abbott AddedMonday, October 2, 2017 at 12:19 AM Would Walt Disney Imagineering hire someone with just a Mechanical Design Associates Degree? I just turned 25 and I am currently at a community college. I've been in various occupations over the years: flight attendant, teacher assistant, behavior clinician, et cetera. My current degree track is setting me up to transfer to Virginia Tech and study Computational and Systems Neuroscience, but I am finally realizing that I would be absolutely miserable if I was not able to dream and create on a daily basis. I also have very many interests, and mechanical design would merge at least two of them--working with Disney would merge even more. I am wondering about the amount of education required or preferred because I am curious to know if making an effort and building a portfolio with only an associates would go unnoticed or not. Thank you so much Kim, I hope to hear from you soon! It is exactly hard to say what kind of education is required. We have creative folks who design and create who don't have any degree, but they are very talented! If you do want to be an Engineer title though, at least a bachelors degree of engineering is required. However we have technical specialists that have associates or non engineering related degrees. I think the important part is finding what you are passionate about and going full throttle. As Walt would say, "whatever you do, do it well" and I think the key to that is finding a passion. It sounds like you are on the right track! Hope this helps, and good luck with school!
