Sam, There are many engineering careers that are design related, but I might suggest an associate engineering program if your math is weak and prefer a hands on environment. Many careers like the one you are searching for will only require a 2 year degree. If you could push through the math of a bachelors degree, that would be great and open some more options to you, but 4 year programs are very math heavy. Once in the job market, a lot of the math tapers off and is calculated with programs, but to get the degree you should know how to calcuate the results by hand if the need were to arise.
