Is engineering work fun?

Is it hard to get into college? How much is the salary? Is the work fun?

Luckily there are a wide variety of colleges with engineering programs - from public schools with rolling admissions to prestigious private schools with strict deadlines and low acceptance rates, and everything you can imagine in-between.

The salary varies greatly also, based on location, experience, and the field. Software engineers, for example, tend to make more than environmental engineers, and environmental engineers in New York City tend to make more than environmental engineers in Wichita, KS. So that's a tough question to answer. I think, in general, engineers make a decent living, but we're definitely not making as much as a brain surgeon, probably ever.

The work is fun sometimes. Sometimes it's not fun, and it's very stressful. This, again, will depend on things like (a) your field, (b) whether you work for a government, nonprofit, or private firm, (c) your ability to handle stress, and (d) opportunities for field work and travel.
