Hi, my name is Karly and I am a sophomore in college and I'm thinking about changing my major to civil or mechanical engineering but I'm worried about juggling motherhood (way down the line) with a job in the engineering field. I am currently majoring in physical therapy so it would be easy for me to convert to working part time if I was a physical therapist but I'm unsure how/if I would be able to work part time or work from home when I have a child. Are any of yall juggling motherhood with a ...

    Hi Karly!

I just had a baby a year ago, so I understand your concern. I'm a software engineer, so luckily there's a lot of flexibility when it comes to working remotely. I also am fortunate in that I'm able to work part time.

Hello, I jsut finished my second year degree in electronics engineering. The sad thing is, I am confused wether I am really into this. I was sent for counselling and it turns out my personality is more to social, which my counselor said I have the tendency to work with people and like to give benefits to ...

Hey there, this sounds like a tough situation. When you say you can't drop out, does that mean you also can not switch your major? If you can't switch your major, is minoring in something a bit more social an option, that way you can have some backup? ...

Hi! Recently I've been considering majoring in engineering (electrical, maybe mechanical or aeronautical). However, I'm slightly concerned by the idea of being the only (or one of the only) females in a class full of men. I don't want to be teased or even harassed because I'm a girl. What are your experiences? Were you teased or harassed in college/work because you're a girl? If so, how did you handle it and did it get better? Should I be concerned? Do you think the trend of engineering ...

Hi Elizabeth, I majored in math and was one of few females in my graduating class. I never felt that I was treated any differently, in fact I think it was a bit of a motivation for me (because I didn't want to be the girl who couldn't keep up).
