What I Do I am an advanced mechanical engineer for Eastman Chemical Company. In my current management position, I serve as a general supervisor in one of Eastman's maintenance departments. I work with mechanics, operators, and other engineers to keep several chemical-making processes running reliably.
Why Engineering? When my father, a college professor and former Dean of Engineering, suggested that I might enjoy an engineering summer camp during the summer after my sophomore year in high school, I jumped at the chance to go. During this month-long camp at a local university, I learned about several different types of engineering and decided that mechanical engineering was for me.

My Day At Work As young engineers advance up the career ladder in many major industries, it is common for them to be assigned to new positions every one or two years. This process exposes us to the many different areas of a business and allows us to learn quickly. As a general supervisor, this position is my fifth assignment in the seven years I have worked for Eastman Chemical Company.
Best Part What I enjoy the most about my current position is that I get to work with a variety of people with different backgrounds and experience levels. I use my technical background to help make decisions that can affect the company's profitability.
