Is petroleum engineering not suitable for women? if not, why? I am really interested in it but what is the scope of getting a good job opportunity for a woman? I am confused if I should choose this as my career.

Hi there! I am currently a high-school senior who has recently become interested in pursuing a career as an Electrical Engineer. My question is: at the university level, are you expected to have experience in computer programming (i.e coding in Java etc.)? Am I at a disadvantage if I don't know this? I would greatly appreciate any insight into this query. Thanks in advance!
