Hi Priyanka, the first decision that you have to take is where do you want to see yourself in a few years. If you'd like to join a product development company, then a masters degree would definitely be a good starting point. But, as you are already ...

As a high school junior, I'm looking into schools that can offer me a strong foundation in computer/ software engineering. The thing is, I don't have a great amount of experience in coding, and I'm worried that that will hold me back from being successful in the future college classes I take.

Hi Rachel! That is a very good question and I'm sure many students are thinking about the same. Let me tell you what, in future, once you are in the software industry, you need to have good coding skills to be successful but what you need more is the ...

Hi Dr. Sayari. I'm a freshman in a community college and my major is not decided yet. I'm thinking about majoring in computer science. I know you didn't study computer science but I thought you would give me some advice. I have many concerns: I'm afraid that I'm not smart enough to study computer science, because as you know people who major in computer science are pretty smart. and I hear a lot about how hard it is and how only geniuses can study it so I'm really afraid that I might not be ...

I am going to be a senior in the fall. My question is basically this: What is the best school that gets you a job after graduation? I assume internships play a huge role! Thanks!

I'm thinking about pursuing a major in mechanical engineering or perhaps electrical engineering. I'm on my school's robotics team and I enjoy learning about how the robot works. However, I perform very poorly in algebra. I love geometry but, algebra just doesn't make much sense to me. I know I have the potential to do well; I'm worried that my professors may not be the best teachers or that I won't absorb enough to pass a math class. What do you think I should do? Should I forget about this and ...

I can't tell you about the mechanical engineering major part because I majored in Computer Science, but I can tell you about the algebra vs. geometry thing from my personal experience. I loved geometry in school, always scored full marks in it. I loved ...

Hi! I'm a civil engineering student from NIT Silchar, India. I'm in my sophomore year and just about to complete it. However in all this time there's one thing that's been bugging me forever. Though civil is a cool branch and I'm a fairly okay student in the stream, I have always been interested in coding. I loved computer programming in school and even now my CS friends come up to me with coding problems because I can really solve them. However the reason I did not pursue CS in our college is ...

As someone coming from India, I think I somewhat understand your concern. Here are some stuff I would suggest. First, you need to figure out if you really LOVE programming. By "really love" I don't mean just working on homework assignments, but are you ...
